Ales Horacek, MD

Chief Operating Officer

Ales Horacek joined Accord Research in September 2014 as Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for managing the clinical operations of Accord Research in each country across all geographical regions.  He has oversight of all aspects of clinical project and resources management, ensuring high productivity across the globe. 

Ales has over 20 years of clinical research experience in the CRO and pharma industry having graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University of Prague in 1994. He received a postgraduate certification in internal medicine and a specialist certification in cardiology. Before joining the CRO industry, Ales worked as a cardiologist and angiologist in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague.

Prior to taking up his role at Accord Research Ales worked for a number of CROs in the Czech Republic with an extensive career spanning Clinical Research Associate to Senior Clinical Research and Project Manager positions.

In 2004 he founded the CRO company, Unimed, holding the position of Chief Executive Officer until 2009. During this period he developed the clinical operations of Unimed in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria, growing a small company of 4 people to a skilled team of 25 in a short time. In 2009 Unimed was acquired by EastHORN Clinical Services. After its acquisition Ales continued as a company shareholder and contributed to the development and growth of the company in Central and Eastern Europe while responsible for global clinical operations, Quality Assurance and scientific issues.

His core experience is in clinical research of phases I - IV in multiple therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, oncology, gastrointestinal, rheumatology, CNS, dermatology, metabolic disorders, diabetes, urology, paediatric and medical devices.
